March 20th

Not every sunday is like the previous. This week I choose to show what I did and who I saw, rather than focus on one specific event, like the sunday dinner.
To start the day I woke up at my boyfriends house. His family always has the paper, more importantly the Sunday paper. They will spend the morning sitting with each other, eating their breakfast, reading the paper and sharing it with everyone else to hear. I think my favorite part about spending Sunday mornings with them is not only the conversation but flipping through the ads to the Sunday paper.
I then spent the rest of my morning photographing my boyfriend getting ready to go to work. He is a trained chef and only gets one to two days off varying every week. I know most of my project is family based and focusing on the idea Sunday is a day of rest. This time I wanted to show the other side and that not everyones rest day is Sunday.
I broke the rules a little and took this picture on a Saturday. Why you ask? Well I'll tell you. I work in a ice cream shop thats closed on Sundays. It seems ridiculous, I know, but I cant complain. Customers always ask or put their two cents in as to why we are closed. So the owner wrote her explanation and hung it in the store. I felt it was necessary to show the belief of some as to why Sunday is considered a day of rest.

Anyways back to my day! After leaving my boyfriends house I went to my father's house. We wanted to go on a hike and on the drive there we came upon a church. I jumped out of the truck and began photographing. There were a couple of cars in the parking lot, so I figured someone must be inside the church. Sure enough there was and as I was photographing the side of the building, I captured a shadow of a man as he walked by the window.  I found the church to have some charm and it was unique to find in the middle of the woods.

The next three images are ones from the actual hike I went on with my father. It was a such a beautiful day we couldn't let it go to waste. We have lived in our house for about 16 years and only recently found  great hiking trails down the road. We spent a good two hours on our walk, finding new treasures and talking about anything and everything.  I like the first picture because it shows myself or my foot rather in mid step in our adventure. The second picture is a bit odd, but i like how it shows my shadow on my father 's back. To me it shows two people as one, or two people coming from the same being.  The third picture is to show the forest and how it creates a path way to guide you along on your travels.
In the end of my day, my father,  his girlfriend and I all made a scrumptious meal. We had to go to the grocery store because we didn't have all ingredients in hand.  My father turned the table around and wanted to show me on what i do on a Sunday instead of him and everyone else. He came out with this picture and I must say my skills must be rubbing off because I really enjoy this picture.

All in all whether im discovering someone else's Sunday or my own there is always something new I learn. I hope you can see it too.
